ST Fusion is a Canarian-Japanese project, unique in the world. Born in Tokyo in 2003, initially as a duo formed by Satomi Morimoto [voice, piano, keyboards, koto] and Tomás L-P Cruz [double bass, guitar, shamisen, koto]. Over the years the band has consolidated itself with the current formation in which in addition to Satomi and Tomás are: Miguel Manescau (guitar) and Akior García (drums). ST FUSION in 2018 celebrate their 15th anniversary, which will take them on a tour around the world, in places such as: India, Korea, Mexico, Turkey, Moroco, Colombia. As a result, they will record their sixth album.
ST FUSION have toured several times in Spain, Japan and Brazil. They have also performed in England, Morocco and Cape Verde. In addition they have partcipated in several Jazz festivals and most prestigious venues in the Canary Islands.
ST FUSION have six recordings, the first of which was recorded in 2004 with the title: 'Occiriental’. They are followed by 'Diagonal' (2007), "3" (2009)- Winner of the UFI award for best jazz album of 2010, "Overview" (2011), "Common Time" (2012) and the EP 'Run' (2017).
Satomi graduated from the Tokyo University of Arts and Music and went on to earn a master’s degree in Early Music from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She also earned a post-diploma in vocal training from the same school. Satomi has performed as a soloist with the Zurich Orchestra and in a soprano duo in Tokyo. She has also given recitals in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, the Shinagawa Curian Hall, Yokohama museum, Yokohama English Hall, Tokyo Art Theatre, Gotanda Planetarium, and Shinagawa Guild Hall in Tokyo, the auditorium of Lerida in Spain, the auditorium of Tenerife “Adan Martin”, and the auditorium Alfredo Kraus in Las Palma de Gran Canaria. In her modern musical work, she has performed in a variety of festivals, theatres and clubs such as the Festival de jazz de Canarias Heineken, Transitos, Costa de musicas (Lanzarote), Atlantico sonoro (La Gomera), Keroxen (Tenerife),Vic (Barcelona), Auditorio de Tenerife, Auditorio de Mutxamel, Tom Jazz (Sao Paulo), Sesc(Bauru, SP), Sesc(Riberau preto, SP), Tessera Hall (Tokyo), B Flat (Tokyo), Espacio Canarias (Madrid), Gira con el Ministerio de cultura (GPS) por Valencia, Santiago, Valladolid y Gijon, Teatro Leal (La Laguna, Tenerife), Patio de los Cipreses del Cabrera Pinto (La Laguna, Tenerife), ex Convento de Santo Domingo (La Laguna, Tenerife). Satomi has sung as a soloist on many occasions with the Chamber MusicOrchestra of Tenerife, performing programmes of Baroque music. Her breadth of music experience has led her to become the organist of St. Luke’s Church in London for two years, and répétitrice for the Festival de Ópera de Tenerife from 2004-2009 and in 2012. She has been a member of the vocal group Chelsea Consort from London, specialising in 20th Century English music. Satomi was a vocal and piano teacher in Tokyo from 1994 until 2001 and has performed with the Tokyo Opera Singers under the direction of Seigi Ozawa. Currently, Satomi is performing regularly with Polo Orti, Morimoto Sisters, Entre2, and ST Fusion.
from Canary Islands, graduated from the Liceu de Barcelona in 1999 after two years of study in the city. He subsequently transferred to Madrid to continue his studies, where he began to take classes with Tony García Araque. In 2001, Tomás received a scholarship to study for a master's degree in Orchestral Training under Thomas Martin in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Upon finishing his master's degree he moved to Tokyo, where he spent a year studying traditional Japanese music and learning the Shiamisen and Koto. Tomás has performed in a myriad of symphony orchestras, chamber music orchestras, renaissance and baroque music groups, chamber music ensembles, Jazz, Brazilian and World Music groups, and so on. His musical career has spanned continents, and he has worked in Spain, England, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, United States, Germany and Japan.
As a producer, he has produced 15 albums and performed in over 30 projects. He has taught as a professor in the Conservatorio Superior de Canarias, and has recorded with musicians of the stature of Milton Nascimento, Joyce, Danilo Caymmi and Roberto Menescal. Some of these productions have been awarded national prizes and international nominations, such as was the case with ST Fusion's album "3", or Projecto Brasileiro. As an organiser, coordinator or producer he has been responsible for more than 1,000 events and has worked as director of festivals, record labels and programmer and manager of the Teatro Leal de La Laguna.
Miguel Manescau is a professional musician with over 20 years experience who is equally at home with musical pedagogy and production as with his work as a session musician. As a teacher he has taught over 3000 students, and in his work as founder and creative director of the sociocultural association Mousike he has organised masterclasses, seminars and workshops with artists from more than 15 countries such as Alain Perez, Jonathan Kreisberg, Chico Pinheiro, Torsten de Winkel, Raimundo Amador, turning the association into one of the most important educational operations in Spain.
As a musician he has recorded over 30 albums and been responsible for the production in over half of those cases. He has performed in festivals and concert halls in Spain, France, Portugal, England, Germany, Holland, Japan, Brazil and Cuba, and shared the stage with artists such as Victor Wooten, Bill Frisell, James Taylor, Robben Ford, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Vicente Amigo, Rosenberg Trio, Sylvain Luc and Jerry Gonzalez.
A native of Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife), Akior García began playing the drums at 13. He took classes with Joeé Isidro "Pepucho" y José Miguel Méndez "Churchi" in the Escuela Mancomunada de los Realejos, as well as studying modern harmony with Sergio García. Akior has recorded with a multitude of artists, such as Andi Deris(Helloween), José Vélez, Jose Manuel Ramos, Braulio, Isabel Gonzalez, Morimoto Sisteres, Marta Solís, and Salvador Escobar. He is currently an official endorser of Platillos Bosphorus, Baterias Santafe, Cajas Joe Bass and Baquetas Wincent Professor en la Escuela Munisimal de Música de Adeje.
